Newborn Prep Form

Thank you for making contact with me to capture your special moments with your new baby! I absolutely love photographing newborns and the new bond that you are forming with them. There are a few things to take into consideration when planning your photography session with me. Newborn sessions usually take up to around two hours and are usually booked in at around 9.30-10am most days of the week, but other times can be arranged if needed. Please let me know when your baby arrives so we can schedule in your session within the 15 days and so I can prioritise sessions in order. Generally the best time to photograph newborns is between 5 and 12 days. Beyond two weeks old they can become quite fussy with growth spurts, start to peel and sometimes get baby acne - in saying this though, I have successfully photographed babies right up until 30 days old without any issues so if you do need more recovery time it is totally fine.

On the morning of your session aim for a small amount of awake time, or a bath and then a nice big feed before you arrive at the studio. If they are fighting you and want to sleep before hand, just let them do so. If they have started their own little morning routine just let do their thing before the session - sometimes changing things around to what you have normally done can cause a bit of over stimulation. If you have a white onesie please dress them in that for your session, as we can start with some family photos in that before I undress baby. If you don't have one available, please just dress them in something that is easy to take off (preferably no singlet) and I will just dress/wrap them when you arrive. I have outfits and here to use if needed.

Please bring along anything you think you will need for your baby – wipes, nappies, burp cloth, bottles if bottle feeding and a pacifier/dummy if they use one, snacks and drinks for yourself and siblings. I normally start off your session with family portraits and sibling shots depending on which package you have chosen.

I then move onto portraits of your newborn with props I have setup before hand.

My studio is filled to the brim with neutral colours, white, cream, tans and browns, rust and mustard. I do have other colours available, please add them in the form below.

I have a neutral backdrop setup in my studio, so colours like whites, creams, greys and blue look great against it if you are trying to work out what to wear. I have a tonne of dresses available for you to wear if you need, please get in touch before hand to arrange this. The studio is kept quite warm to keep your baby sleepy, so it is advised that you wear something comfortable and cool. Professional makeup can be arranged at an extra cost, I recommend CHICA Hair and Makeup Artistry as she can usually fit you in at late notice. She offers a discounted price for my clients so please let her know you are booked with me.

I know this can be a very exciting and stressful time for you, especially when adding in sleep deprivation! As much as my goal is for your baby to be comfortable, I also want you to be comfortable and at ease. Having me photograph these precious moments for you means a lot to me, so anything I can do to make it a smooth journey for you, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Please fill out the form below.

Thanks, Morgan.

FAQ

How many pictures will we receive?

This depends on which package you have chosen. All include digital files for you to download and print yourself, and some also include physical print products.

What’s the best time to have a session with a newborn?

I find the best days are around 6-9 days. This is of course dependent on availability and how you are feeling. I just find babies are still nice and sleepy and makes for an easier stress free session.

How long does it take to receive our photos?

Turn around time is approximately 2-4 weeks, this depends on the time of the year, peek times around wedding season push wait times out a little. I promise it is totally worth the wait!

How should we dress for our family session?

For the studio I find neutrals photograph amazingly well. Adding pops of colour if you like could include pastels like blue, emerald etc, or earthy tones such as rust, mustard, tan and olive greens. I have a lot of dresses available for Mama to wear so if you are stuck finding something please let me know.

We don’t feel very confident in front of the camera, is that ok?

Of course, I don't think there are many that are naturally confident, and that is completely okay. I will tell you how to stand and guide you through the session - don't stress!
